Education is a national duty

Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak underlined the importance of catering for children with special needs.
"The aim of launching a development programme of schools providing education for those children, which covers five ones in Cairo as a first phase, is to give momentum to efforts exerted to provide all possible care for children with special needs," she said.
Presiding over a meeting of the project's higher committee on Tuesday, the first lady said the five participant schools witnessed an unprecedented progress not only with regard to the educational process but also in training and grooming students on peaceful co-existence with society and independently earning their 1iving as well.
She pressed for continued training of teachers as well as utilizing modern technologies in transmitting lectures, workshops and training courses to other schools.
"The training courses aim at upgrading the practical and educational competence of teachers dealing with students with special needs," said Mrs. Mubarak, adding that education is a national responsibility in the society.
