Amman Summit calls for closer relations with EU, Russia

Proceedings of the Arab Summit kick off in the Jordanian Capital Amman on Tuesday, March 27.
President Hosni Mubarak, Chairman of Al-Aqsa Arab Intifada summit, which was held in Cairo last October will address the inaugural session and hand over presidency of the summit to King Abdullah II of Jordan, who will also address the inaugural session.
The Arab Summit will discuss conditions in the Palestinian territories and peace process. The Arab leaders intend to support the Palestinian Intifada with a non-refundable grant not a loan, for six months in principle.
They will discuss activating Arab boycott of Israeli goods.
The summit is due to commission President Mubarak and King Abdullah II to visit Washington next month to explain Arab stances vis-a-vis issue of Jerusalem and reiterate Arab rejection of moving the any embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The Arab Summit is expected to call on holding an extraordinary meeting of the United Nations General Assembly with the aim of providing international protection for the Palestinian people.
Amman Summit will work to promote Arab coordination with the European Union and Russia to revive peace talks on all tracks from the point they stopped at, Jordanian Minister of Information Taleb Al-Refai confirmed that Amman Summit is continuation of the serious work of President Mubarak.
Minister of Information Safwat Al-Sharif said that meeting of the Arab summit will be transmitted live on Nile Sat Satellite.
All Arab leaders will take part in the Arab summit except Sheikh Zayed Ben Sultan Al-Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates due to his illness.
