Moroccan - British trade on the rise
Morocco-UK, Economics, 3/17/2001
Moroccan-British trade exchanged were increased by 18 percent since last year, British ambassador to Morocco, Antony Layden said Saturday.
"Great Britain became in 2000 Morocco's third commercial partner after France and Spain, and our goal is to be number one," Layden told the Moroccan Le Matin Du Sahara et du Maghreb daily.
The diplomat deplored that British economic operators do not Morocco well. The British business circles are very conservative and it is difficult to convince them to grant interest to new regions, he said.
Layden also praised Morocco for the progress scored to settle all economy-related problems and to promote democracy and human rights.
