Violent wind destroys banana plantations
Morocco, Agriculture, 3/16/2001
Violent wind that blew on Morocco in early March destroyed banana plantations in various regions in Morocco, said the Association of Banana Producers in Morocco (APROBA). "Significant damage" was deplored mainly the major producing areas near Rabat, Al-Jadida and Agadir, the association said in a release sent to MAP.
In view of the seriousness of the situation, the Association called competent government authorities to assess the damage.
