Israel imprisonment for Israeli soldiers who refused to serve in the Palestinian territories

Some 600 reserve israeli soldiers have been arrested since October 2000 over refusing to serve in the palestinian territories, according to the israeli daily Maareve.

These soldiers were sentenced for several periods of time because they did not obey ordered given to them to serve in military bases or in the settlements in the west bank and Gaza, added the paper which gave no mention to the reasons behind the refusal,.

A spokesman for the Israeli army said that " these figures are not important because they are less than figures in the same phase of 2000, and do not in particular mean abstination from joining services in the palestinian territories.".
