Qatar, UAE sign Dolphin gas agreement
Qatar-United Arab Emirates, Economics, 3/16/2001

Qatar and the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday signed an agreement that states the detailed conditions of the " Dolphin" gas agreement provides for the establishment of a pipeline for transporting the Qatari gas to the United Arab Emirates at a cost of $ 4 billion.

News reports quoted Qatar's minister of energy and industry Abdullah Bin Hamad al-Ateyah as saying to pressmen that the agreement pertains to all details of the project and the first phase of a project which will cover later Oman and also Pakistan and India might be included.

However, differences over the price and volume of the Qatari gas to be exported had postponed the signing of the agreement on that project over which talks have been made between the UAE exchange office and the Qatari Oil company.

Worthy mentioning that Qatar ranks third in the world in gas reserves after Russia and Iran.
