Trade union leader wants a development mechanism for southern provinces development

Noubir Amaoui, Secretary general of the Democratic Labor Confederation (CDT/close to the prime minister's USFP) called in Laayoune on Wednesday for incepting a mechanism geared toward the development of southern provinces.

Amaoui, who opened the CDT 4th general congress held this March 14-16 in the southwestern city of Laayoune, said youth from these provinces should be given priority in employment. He added that the region also needs to be endowed with the needed infrastructure and conditions to spur investments.

He added that this should be part of an economy restructuring strategy based on the country's potentials and needs, revision of wealth distribution respecting justice among regions.

Of the Moroccan Sahara issue, he said the artificial conflict is fabricated by Algeria and should not be internationalized, adding that the referendum is now outdated.
