Reviving civil society committees in Syria

The Syrian film- maker Nabil al-Maleh has announced that the committees of the "Civil Society" in Syria have started to expand to include all Syrian provinces.
He said that signatories of the statement of these committees reached 4,000 persons while number of its signatories upon its issuance was 1,000 persons.
In an exclusive statement to the Jordanian daily al-Dostour from Damascus issued on Wednesday, al-Maleh added that the constituent commission of this gathering which includes 150 members have met recently and discussed means of revitalizing these committees.
He added that the participants in the meeting agreed to form work groups in order to draw a vision for necessary reforms in the country with the objective of setting up the rule of law, making democratic elections and abrogating the "emergency law."
