On the meeting between al-Assad and Arafat

The Jordanian daily al-Arab al-Youm said on Wednesday that convening a meeting between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat and normalizing political relations between the Syrians and the Palestinians has become imperative and necessary after the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon unveiled his negotiations paper.
In an article issued on Wednesday under the title " meeting with President al-Assad with Arafat is possible and necessary," the paper called for having the joint interests between the two sides as the firm base for the relations between Syria and the Palestinians.
