Morocco, Monaco sign convention of rabat air pollution monitoring and control

Prince Albert of Monaco chaired in Rabat on Monday the signing ceremony of a convention for the surveillance and control of air pollution in the city of Rabat.
The agreement, initialed by Morocco's minister of land development, town planning, housing and environment, Mohamed El Yazghi, and Patrick Leclercq, Monaco's state minister, provides for carrying out a major project meant to transfer know-how in air monitoring follow-up and equipment purchase.
Under the convention, the principality will grant Morocco 430,000 French Francs in assistance to buy new devices for the surveillance of air pollution in Rabat and will finance the training in Monaco of a Moroccan team. A group of Monegasque technicians will also be staying in Morocco to finalize the project.
Monaco will also give Morocco second-hand equipment.
Morocco will seek additional funds for the project, study the possibility of exempting from duties equipment to be imported from the principality and will be in charge of the machinery maintenance.
