Pope Shenouda III okays first Coptic Orthodox mission to Spain

The Patriarch of Alexandria and Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Shenouda III approved the establishment of the first presentation mission for the Coptic Orthodox Church in Spain.
The decision came when an aide sent by Pope Shenouda to Madrid reported the increasing number of Egyptians in Spain and their need to the services of the Coptic Church.
Sources at the papal seat in St. Mark Cathedral said the Egyptians community in Spain will study the project, choose the proper location and allocate the necessary finance before the Pope assigns a priest for the Church there.
The sources said although the Coptic Church has many representations in most of the European capitals, Spain remains short of a Coptic Church due to the limited numbers of Egyptians there.
