Sheikh Hamad hails Egyptian role in Arab solidarity

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak yesterday had important talks in Sharm El-Sheikh with Emir of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa Al-khalifa on the current Arab positions, Gulf and regional issues with a special emphasis on the issue of peace in the Middle East in the light of current developments in the Palestinian territories.
Issues tabled on the agenda of the next Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Amman late this month were given special emphasis in talks between the two-leaders.
Sheikh Hamad briefed President Mubarak on the latest developments witnessed by his country and the steps which have been taken for consolidating national establishments in Bahrain.
Minister of Information Safwat Al-Sherif said following talks held by President Hosni Mubarak with the Emir of Bahrain Wednesday that the talks were held at the Summit level and the two Arab leaders discussed the Arab situation in general.
The talks also dealt with Gulf and regional issues, foremost among which is the cause of peace in the Middle East in the light of the changes and conditions in occupied Arab territories.
The two leaders also gave a great attention to issues to be included in the agenda of the forthcoming Arab Summit in Amman.
Minister of Information said that the Emir of Bahrain briefed President Mubarak on developments which took place in Bahrain and steps being taken to strengthen and stabilize Bahraini national institutions. The talks also tackled issues related to bilateral cooperation.
Al-Sherif added that the two leaders stressed supporting Palestinian rights and the Palestinian people in their struggle to attain legitimate rights.
They also stressed that it was necessary to adhere to international legitimacy in order to activate the peace issue and reach solutions which are acceptable to both sides.
Al-Sherif said that on the sidelines of the Summit, a meeting was held between members of the delegation accompanying President Mubarak.
Safwat Al-Sherif said that the talks covered bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields which reflects the relationship of a special nature between the two brotherly peoples.
The talks also covered cooperation at the Arab level, foremost among which is the importance of a services link between Arab countries as a prelude to realizing economic integration among Arab countries.
Al-Sherif said that in this respect some issues were put forward related to some technical and economic issues which are expected to be raised at the coming Arab summit in Amman.
Al-Sherif added that the two leaders will continue their talks and consultations on the different bilateral, Arab and regional issues.
