The resumption of Palestinian- Israeli talks
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 3/10/2001

The spokesman for the Palestinian authority Marwan Kanafani has announced that the Palestinians Authority will seriously and objectively discuss the proposal made by the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon on resuming the Israeli- Palestinian negotiations.

In an interview with the Monte Carlo radio on Friday, Kanafani added there are several Palestinian reservations over what Sharon had proposed in his speech before the Israeli Knesset.

On Thursday, the Israeli defense minister Benjamin Bin Aleazer refused statements made by the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres to resuming negotiations with the Palestinian Authority and Bin Aleazer set a precondition to halt the palestinian Intifada first.

Meantime, the advisor for the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Nabil Abu Rudinah has announced that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat on Thursday evening received a reply message from the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon in reply to the message Arafat had sent congratulating Sharon on the assumption of activities by the new israeli government.

Abu Rudinah added that Sharon stressed in his message his desire to resume the negotiations on the ground of previous agreements signed between the Israeli and Palestinians sides.
