King Mohammed grants pardon to over 1,000 convicts

On the occasion of Aid Al-Adha, commemorated this Tuesday in Morocco, King Mohammed VI has granted pardon to 1,256 convicts, some of whom are serving prison sentences and others are free.
A statement of the Moroccan justice ministry says a total grace on the remaining of prison sentences was granted to 609 prisoners, 625 detainees had their prison sentence reduced, while another three persons had their life imprisonment sentence reduced to a limited prison term.
Also, 9 persons benefited from a total grace on the prison sentence while the fine was maintained the fine, three persons got a grace on the prison term and 7 persons were exempted from paying the fine.
It is a tradition that the sovereign grants pardons to convicts during national and religious feasts.
