Golden pieces discovered in Syria date back to the Umayyad era

The Museum of Aleppo, to the North of Syria announced on March 4 that a " pottery jar " was found in a funeral containing 82 golden pieces go back to the Ummayad's era date back to the 7th century.
The director of Antiquities department in Aleppo Wahid Khayatta said that " several citizens of al-Alouka al-Gharbeyah ( Western ) village of Deir Hafer district found, during drilling works at the village's cemetery, an antique treasure put in a potter jar includes 82 golden pieces.
Khayatta explained that " the said antiquities were registered at the Islamic national museum with the remains of the jar in order to be studied and displayed properly at the " Islamic antiquities museum," noting that the " pieces date back to the Umayyad's era and on each of its two faces are written " there is no God But God" and on the other face " Muhammad id his prophet." Khayatta added " the diameter of each piece ranges between 1.6 and 1.7 Cm and they are greatly similar.
He continued: " as for the jar it was not proved if it goes back to the Umayyad's era and that a study is being made to decide the identity of the pieces and the potter jar." He further explained " the jar seems to date back to the Ayubid era " established by Salah eddine al-Ayubi in the 12th century) and was owned a man from that age and was buried under the ground and was forgotten there."
