King Mohammed congratulates Islamic heads of state on Eid al-Adha
Morocco-Regional, Religion, 3/5/2001
On the occasion of Aid-Al-Adha (immolation feast), King Mohammed VI has sent the following message to kings, presidents and princes of Islamic countries:
"As the entire Islamic Ummah is celebrating the blessed feast of Eid Al Ad'ha, it is My pleasure to extend to You My warmest congratulations and convey My best wishes of good health and happiness. I also wish Your brotherly people further progress and prosperity under Your wise leadership.
The celebration by the Islamic Ummah of this great religious event, which concludes and crowns the period of Hadj pilgrimage and sincere devotion to Allah, is indeed a unique opportunity to remind all Muslims of the duties assigned to them by their noble religion in terms of solidarity and concord, as well as a constant commitment to the quest for moderation and the happy medium based on brotherhood, tolerance, magnanimity, rejection of extremism, prevalence of right and justice and the sound emulation in the performance of good, righteous and redeeming deeds on earth as well as the dissemination of ideals and lofty values among Muslim peoples and communities.
Similarly, the advent of the auspicious feast of Eid Al Ad'ha which embodies and highlights the values of sacrifice and self denial is the best possible incentive for our people to further mobilize their resources to recover their confiscated lands, defend their holy shrines, their territorial integrity and their dignity. Chief among these peoples is the heroic Palestinian people.
I wish to take this opportunity to assure You of My determination to strengthen the bonds of Islamic solidarity between our two brotherly peoples and to raise our bilateral relations to a level which matches the ambition of our peoples, for the benefit of the Islamic Ummah at large.
Please accept the assurances of My highest consideration and esteem."
