No economic, security future for gulf without Iraq, Kuwaiti diplomat
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 3/2/2001
Kuwaiti ambassador to Morocco, Souleyman Ibrahim Al Marjane, ruled out any economic and security future of the gulf without Iraq.
"There can be no economic nor security future for the Gulf without Iraq," the diplomat told the press in Rabat on the occasion of his country's national day.
The ambassador, who voiced hope to see the issue of Kuwaiti prisoners settled, said the Kuwaiti and Iraqi peoples are in the same trench.
Al Marjane also touched on his country's position regarding the Palestinian issue. He underlined, in this connection, that there can be no overbids regarding Kuwait's attitude.
Kuwait, he said, paid $ 150 million in backing the Palestinian Itifada (uprising).
