Algeria, Politics, 3/2/2001
The Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika has extended a new call for reconciliation for elements of the armed groups and the leadership of the banned Islamic front for salvation in order to return back to the society in preparation to launch another battle to convince the Algerians about the amnesty measures he is expected to declare.
In a statement at the Bleida province, which is situated to the south of the capital Algiers, the Algerian President set a precondition on those who want to get a presidential amnesty and to end the process of their being pursued by the court to declare in the open their redemption and that they were mistaken.
Well-informed sources expected Butaflika to make a referendum to be announced very soon.
