Egyptian-Italian talks to boost economic, investment, cooperation

Egypt's Prime Minister Atef Ebeid Wednesday held a meeting with visiting Italian Transport Minister Pierluigi Bersani. The meeting was attended by Transport Minister Ibrahim El- Demeiri.

Emerging from the meeting, Demeiri said that the meeting explored means of promoting bilateral relations in the economic and trade fields and encouraging the Italian investments in Egyptian infrastructure.

"The Italian side expressed readiness to contribute to joint-venture projects in the fields of transport, overhauling railway utilities and building new airports and highways " Demeiri added.

Talks covered ways to boost volume of maritime transport between Egypt and Italy.

Demeiri added that the two sides agreed to form a joint working team to study these projects and means to develop cooperation and increase the volume of the Egyptian exports to Italy.
