Israeli expert statements on Syria

The Israeli expert on the Syrian and Iraqi affairs Eyal Zeitar has stated that the Syrian position is very clear at all political and international levels concerning UN resolutions, especially in regard to Iraq.

In an interview with the Israeli radio on Tuesday, Zeitar added that Syria abides by UN resolutions regarding Iraq and it does not want to challenge the US.

He indicated that the US secretary of state Colin Powell has failed to establish an Arab alliance against Iraq. He added " I do believe that the aim of the visit is that the Arab states, once again, to play a role in the region, especially as the Arab states, as a whole, fear the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein."
