Bahrain - Morocco economic ties short of political relations, bahraini businessman

Economic relations between Bahrain and Morocco are short of the political ties binding the two Arab states, Bahraini businessman, Rached Ziyani, deplored.
Economic cooperation between the two states can be enhanced, if Morocco and Bahrain better exploit their potentials and suppress obstacles hindering bilateral exchanges, said Ziyani, who is vice-president of the governing board of the Islamic Bank of Bahrain.
The businessman deplored the lack of direct sea and air lines as one of the major obstacles to the development of trade between Morocco and Bahrain.
Morocco's exports to this Gulf state stood at $ 452,000 in 1999, while imports were worth $ 1.4 million.
