Ancient pilgrims road discovered in North Sinai
Egypt, History, 2/26/2001
A mission from the Supreme Council of Antiquities is currently carrying out restoration and excavation works in north Sinai, at the area between Al-Qantara Sharq and the Horus Road.
The plan involves unearthing the pilgrims road and revive the Holy Family Road, Al-Khawaniat and Qatiba castles and ALGhouri castle in Sahl Al-Tina.
On the other hand, the Islamic and Coptic Antiquities Sector (SCA) mission finished excavations in Tal El-Sitt, Sheikh Zuweid in north Sinai.
Excavations resulted in unearthing a residential section that dates back to the Roman era and bronze currencies that date back to the Roman and Ptolemac eras.
