Bouteflika seeks to spread human rights culture and commision in Algeria

"The draft presidential decree related to the creation of the national consultative commission for the promotion and the protection of human rights, set out by Head of Government Ali Benflis, was on the agenda of the Cabinet, which met Thursday under the chairmanship of President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika," the offficial Algerian news agency reported.
In this respect, the president invited all of the state authorities to contribute "to facilitate the missions of the new institution in order to vest it with the appropriate place for taking in charge human rights issues and give all the desirable relevance to its future actions in this field," the APS report added.
The report said that Boutiflika also said that "the fundamental rights of the citizens and public freedoms can no longer be in the world today the matter of the states alone, society must be able to participate in a more effective way to their promotion and their protection." In keeping with this, it is worth recalling the statement pointed out, that "the strategy for strengthening the state of right is destined to spread following several axes, including that of the reform of justice and the State's missions and structures." This strategy had also developed through the strengthening of the role and place of society and the development of the human rights culture in their broader meaning."
