Israel under fire in US human rights report
Israel-Palestine, Politics, 2/24/2001

In what is described as an unprecedented criticism, a US human rights report has slammed Israel's way of reacting to the Palestinian Intifada which erupted late in September. This came in an annual report on human rights, by the US Secretary of State.

Parts of the report cited the assassination policy adopted by Israel to physically liquidate figures in the Palestinian Authority, in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The report also focused on the Israeli siege imposed on the Palestinian towns as well as other violations pertaining to causing damage to the Palestinian ambulances.

The report also criticized the way Israel deals with the demonstrations staged by the Israeli Arabs which resulted in the death of 13 persons despite the fact that these protests were peaceful.
