Sudanese Rai al-Shaab daily closed

The Sudanese authorities on Thursday suspended the publication of the " Rai al-Shaab" daily which is issued by the opposition Sudanese People's Congress party.
The said party's headquarters situated at al-Mensheyeh quarters in al-Khartoum was put under security control.
On Wednesday evening the Sudanese authorities held the secretary general of the people's congress party Hassan al-Turabi and several key figures representing his party under charges of signing an agreement between this party and the rebellion movement in Southern Sudan led by John Garang, directed against the Sudanese state.
