A message to President al-Assad from Putin

The Syrian foreign minister farouk al-Shara on Thursday received the Russian ambassador in Damascus Robert Markian who handed al-Shara a message addressed to President al-Assad from the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Talks dealt with developments of conditions in the region and bilateral relations between the two countries.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian foreign minister received the delegation representing the German federal Parliamentary council delegation led by Yuakhim Horster, the chairman of the parliamentary group for relations with the near east Arabic speaking states.

Present at the meeting were the deputy foreign minister Mrs Siba Naser and the German ambassador in Damascus.

Talks dealt with developments in the region and means of reviving the Euro- Arab dialogue and bilateral relations between Syria and Germany and means of developing them.

Later in the day, al-Shara received Venezuela's new ambassador in Damascus who handed him a copy of his credentials as an ambassador for his country in Syria. Bilateral relations were reviewed.
