Serious development in Israeli attacks against Palestinians

Friday witnessed a great escalation in the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories. As the Israeli forces broke into the western part of occupied Jerusalem, the Israeli soldiers and settlers opened their fire intensively against Palestinian houses and suburbs in Nablus and the adjoining villages and the Israeli bombardment targeted on Thursday evening the outskirts of Beit Sahour and Bethlehem.

Meantime various areas of the West Bank and Gaza witnessed violent confrontations with the Israeli forces which carried out mopping up and breaking into operations and detained several Palestinians.

Detailed news reports said the Israeli forces on Thursday broke into the western part of Jerusalem and mopped it up and arrested several Palestinians under charges of throwing stones on the road to Malee Adomim near Jerusalem.

Commander of the Israeli police in Jerusalem said that the mopping up operation will continue and more Palestinians will be arrested at charges of being members in the Palestinian resistance and to cells which carry out operations against the israeli army and its patrols in occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli occupation army and the armed settlers opened fire intensively against the Palestinian houses and suburbs in Nablus and the adjoining villages and carried out vast mopping operation in the region.

The Palestinian Intifada youths replied by throwing stones against the Israeli forces deployed around the Israeli settlements and blocked the roads by fired wheels in protest of the Israeli oppressive acts.

In the framework of the total siege and the oppressive acts taken by the Israeli occupation forces to oppress the Palestinian Intifada, the Israeli army officer decided to deploy more Israeli forces to certain areas under the control of the Palestinian authority in a new attempt to undermine the Intifada.

At the political level, the Palestinian Authority on Thursday called on the US administration to propose a quick initiative in order to salvage the peace process and to re-launch the Palestinian- Israeli negotiations from the point they broke off.

In a statement to reporters, the advisor for Arafat Nabil Abu Rudinah said that it is necessary that the US will start to renew its role and to proceed it effectively in its capacity as a sponsor for the ME peace process, especially under the visit of the US secretary of state Colin Powell to the region this week.
