A report warns against the collapse of the Palestinian economy
Palestine, Economics, 2/23/2001

In its meeting to be held in Cairo by the beginning of March, under the chairmanship of Qatar's foreign minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem, the Arab League AL council will discuss a comprehensive report that warns against the collapse of the Palestinian economy.

This collapse will be due to the fact that it passes critical crises as a result of the Israeli practices against the Palestinian people and the continued besiege of cities and deliberate closure of the Palestinians areas within the context of a new policy pursued by the Israeli government under Ariel Sharon.

The report said that closing of the international crossing led to a blockage in the foreign trade which by its turn to increasing unemployment up to 40%, besides the heavy losses inflicted in various sectors as a result of destroying the infrastructure, the properties and the agricultural sector because of confiscating lands and agricultural crops.
