Profit making, major aim of the company; D-8 countries

Experts approved provisional agenda of the D-8 (the eight developing Muslim countries summit ) and experts of D-8 group agreed at the end of their meeting in Cairo on Wednesday on the temporary agenda of their summit.
The D-8 countries are Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Malaysia.
Experts attended the meeting from all D-8 member-states, representatives of Finbi, the consultant firm entrusted with the task to prepare the International Marketing and Trade Company (IMTC) feasibility study, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mahmoud Abdul Fatah, an adviser to the minister of economy, who chaired the meeting, invited the participating D-8 delegates to examine the provisional agenda and the progress of work.
He invited Mrs. Naglaa Bahr, of Finbi to give a presentation on the most recent version of the visibility study.
The presentation addressed the following major issues:
1-A general overview of the different phases, through which the idea of establishment of the IMTC has evolved.
2- The components of the study, including economic, marketing, financial, legal, organizational and operational aspects.
3- The recommendation reached by Finbi for the establishment of the (IMTC).
4- Assisting in making trade an effective tool serving unilateral, as well as economic development of the member-states.
5-Encouraging the private sector's participation in the company's operation.
The Malaysian delegation briefed the meeting on the report concerning the training program on the Malaysian capital market held in Kuala Lumpur on October 9-13, 2001.
The Iranian delegation stressed the importance of exchanging information and experts between D-8 countries concerning their capital markets development and operations.
In his conclusion, the chairman stressed the vital role of the capital markets for the member countries economic development and the need to share expertise and information in this field.
The Egyptian delegation raised the following issues:
-The objective of IMIC is to promote and expand trade among D-8 countries, which was agreed upon by all D-8 member states.
-IMTC will help realize this objective through relocating trade among member countries so that they can trade directly between one another instead of going through a third party.
