New appointment in the Syrian foreign ministry

The London based paper al-Zamaan said in its Wednesday issue that the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara has recently made changes at his ministry's departments and appointed new figures in these administrations.
The paper said that Abdul Salaam Hijab was recently appointed the director of media department at the foreign ministry in succession of Mrs Suad al-Ayoubi after she had joined one of the Syrian embassies abroad after Hijab was a chief editor at SANA and before that he was SANA's correspondent in Cairo and earlier a director for the Syrian TV and he had a diplomatic course for one and a half months before he assumed his new work.
The paper added that Muhammad Adib al-Khan has become a director for the economic administration in succession to Mamdouh Haidar, Khalil Abu Hadid as a director for the organizations department in succession of Klovis Khouri; Mamdouh Zarour a director for documentation and translation in succession of Razan Mahfouz, Riyadh Sneij as a director of the international waters department in succession of Hikmat Tuffaha, Ali Hassan a director for internal audition and inspection in succession to ambassador Hajem Ibrahim and Muwafak Nassar as a director of the private offices in succession of Ahmad Arous and Tammam Suleiman as a director for the minister's office in succession of Samir al-Qasir.
The paper added that ambassador Issa darwish, Muhammad al-Mahamid, Muhammad Adel al-Shammat, Muhammad Kasado and Muhammad Hassan al-Tawab, Hamzeh Hamzeh, and Bahjat Daghman have become respectively directors of the Arab states, culture, America and the expatriates departments.The paper expected that according to the recent presidential decree released by President Bashar al-Assad, it is expected to appoint another person for the protocol department in succession to Tawfiq Salloum who was transferred to the Syrian permanent delegation in Geneva and nominated as an ambassador and permanent representative at the UN. It is also expected that the director of the cultural department Muhammad Hassan al-Tawab will head for Baghdad to assume his post as a chairman to the Syrian interests office there. However, the minister's four deputies are still in their positions. They are Suleiman Haddad, Siba Nasser, Walid al-Mu'allim and Mustafa al-Haj Ali It is, however, expected shortly the release of other decrees providing for appointing Hijab as an ambassador in one of the Latin American states, the former higher education minister Kamal Sharaf as an ambassador in Malaysia and Dr. Turkey Saqer, chief editor of al-Baath daily as an Ambassador in Tehran.
