Israel accused of using poisonous gas against Palestinians

Palestine has asked all the Arab states to help it in acquainting it with the kind of poisonous gas used by the Israeli occupation forces recently against the Palestinian Intifada.

In an official memorandum the Arab league AL received on Tuesday, Palestine added that the Israeli occupation forces resorted to the use of unknown gases that provoke great rage among the Palestinians and that such cases reported to hospital as a result of using this sort of gas reached 150 only within four days.

The memorandum which was handed over by Palestine's representative at the Arab League Muhammad Sbeih to the secretary general noted the urgent need for international experts to reveal the nature of these gases and to make analysis on them.

Sbeih added that the Palestinian health ministry said samples of these gases to WHO regional director Hussein al-Jazeiri in Cairo and to the director general of WHO Mrs. Protland and to the President of the ICRC asking for sending experts to the field to get to know about this gas.

Sbeih added that the Palestinian ministry of health contacted Ahmad al-Teibi, who is the Arab member at the Israeli Knesset and asked him to find out from the Israelis about the nature of this gas or at least to know its counter- dose especially as the symptoms of this poison have not been experienced during the seven years of the first Palestinian Intifada and the four years of the second Palestinian Intifada.

He expressed his concern towards Israel's using of these unknown gases and asked sides concerned in the Arab states to help the Palestinian authority to know this sort of gas.
