King Mohammed launches extension works of Larache port

Morocco's King Mohammed VI on Tuesday launched the extension works of the port of the northern town of Larache.

The king heard explanations on the project that seeks to promote fisheries-related industrial activities in the port and generate new job opportunities.

The project will cost $ 6.5 million (65 million Dirhams).

King Mohammed also launched another project for the electrification of 154 villages in the commune of Rissana Chamalia in Larache.

The project, that will benefit 18,398 households, will cost $ 23 million (230 million Dirhams). It will be carried out by the state-owned power company ONE over 18 months.

ONE will contribute 63.3 percent to the project financing, beneficiaries will pay 20.1 percent and communes will contribute 16.6 percent.

The electrification program requires the construction of a 370 km-long medium tension network, a 900-km long low tension network and 29 power transformer-stations.
