Al- Bashir in Ethiopia to revitalize bilateral relations
Sudan-Ethiopia, Politics, 2/20/2001

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir took part in the celebrations of the 26th anniversary of the Tagrai people liberation front (the ruling side in Ethiopia). The celebrations were held on Sunday in the city of Maqli to the north of Ethiopia.

Al-Bashir arrived on Saturday evening in Ethiopia in a visit which will last for several days during which he will hod talks with Ethiopian officials.

News reports said that talks during the meeting will deal with means of developing diplomatic and economic relations between Addis Ababa and al-Khartoum.

Worthy mentioning that relations between Ethiopia and Sudan have witnessed great developments during the past two years during the border crisis between Ethiopia and Eritrea. This was following years of tension as Addis Ababa had accused al-Khartoum of giving shelter to persons who tried to assassinate the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Addis Ababa in 1995.
