Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday in Damascus received the Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri Talks dealt with latest developments on the Arab and regional arenas and issues of concern to the two "sisterly" states.
The Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Sunday in Damascus received the Belgian minister of State Mr Charles Ferdinand Notomb in his capacity as the secretary general for the European Institute on Euro Arab- Mediterranean cooperation. Present at the meeting were the deputy foreign minister Mrs. Seba Nasser and the Belgian ambassador in Damascus.
Italian news media Sunday highlighted the three-day visit of President Hosni Mubarak to Italy. Mubarak is scheduled to hold talks with President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi and Prime Minister Ginliano Amato. "The visit is of special importance as it comes on the heels of the Israeli elections," the papers said.
Morocco's King Mohammed VI will pay an official visit to India as of next Monday, it was officially announced in Rabat Saturday.
