Archaeological water Reservoir discovered at Al-Qalaa Square

An archaeological mission unearthed a water reservoir that dates back to the Mameluke era.
The discovered reservoir is a rare architectural and a marvelous model of Aquatic installations accomplished by old Moslem Architects.
"The find was discovered by chance when workers of the telecom Egypt were digging in the area to install telephone lines," said Gaballah Ali Gaballah, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), in a press conference Sunday.
The square shaped resrvoir was filled with water during the Nile flood season, to be used by al Qalaa square inhabitants.
