Mediterranean chambers of commerce meet in Tangier

The board of the association of Mediterranean chambers of commerce held a meeting in the Moroccan northern city of Tangier on February 17.
The board carried on debates on the restructuring of the association that were started in Tunis last January in a bid to reactivate the association and enable it play a more dynamic role at a time of globalization and advent of regional economic groupings.
The board was to finalize amendments to the statutes seeking to put an end to the hegemony of the chambers of commerce of the northern shore, as these chambers have so far monopolized the association chairmanship.
The board also discussed means of improving management methods and increasing the association's financial resources and a plan of action for coming years.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry of Algiers, Barcelona, Cagliari, Marseilles, Tangier and Tunis.
The association musters chambers of commerce from 16 Mediterranean countries.
