Fears of a comprehensive war in the region

The Qatari daily al-Rai said on Sunday, according to a secret report prepared by the intelligence department at the Israeli army that the conditions in the Arab region proceed to a comprehensive war that might erupt between one time and another due to the escalated conditions in the Palestinian territories and the support of the Arab states to the Palestinian resistance.
In a report it published on Sunday, according to the report, part of which as the Israeli paper " Cool Hazman" issued on Saturday, the Qatari daily said that the intelligence department in the Israeli army considers that the continued fighting in the Palestinian territories might, very soon lead to the eruption of a comprehensive was between Israel and the Arab states.
According to the report, the expected war will not be limited to countries neighboring Israel, rather to other Arab states exposed to pressures by their people to strongly stand with the Palestinian people.
The report indicated that Israel will be dragged into a comprehensive war because of the Israeli escalation in the Palestinian territories and in particular on the northern border.
However, the Israeli paper " Cool Hazman" said, according to a security sources, that the election of Ariel Sharon might postpone the escalation in the region because the Arab states will wait to see the nature of the governmental coalition to be formed in Israel and the direction to be pursued by the prime minister elect.
