Al- Fahoum, Arafat and Syria

The chairman of the Palestinian National Salvation Front Khaled al- Fahoum has announced that Yasser Arafat will visit Damascus before the convening of the Arab summit in Amman before the end of March.
In a statement to the London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily al-Fahoum said that a Palestinian delegation will visit Damascus in preparation for Arafat's visit and to draw the agreed upon fixed points, the red points and future co-ordination.
He unveiled that this visits comes on the background of Arafat's recent stances in the camp David negotiations, earlier his stances in Taba and Sharm el-Sheikh in his commitment to national principles and in not giving any concessions regarding them.
Al- Fahoum added that the answer of the Syrian foreign ministry was positive on the ground that the visit has a substance and a content, namely approving the principles lines of the future policy towards clinging to the UN resolutions 242 and 338, the right of the Palestinian refugees to return, the establishment of the Palestinian state on the territories occupied in 1967 with Jerusalem as a capital and the continuity of the palestinian Intifada. al-Fahoum added: " These are points which Arafat had told me, by telephone, his unconditional approval besides another point which is the need of future co-ordination and not to have things like what they were before during the 1980s and the 1990 s when there was no co-ordination between Syria and the PLO.
Al-Fahoum indicated in his statement that " the Syrian brothers have approved the coming of Arafat to Syria in his capacity as a chairman of the PLO. Al- Fahoum said that relations between Arafat and Syria will be like what they were before.
