On Azmi Beshara and Knesset immunity

The Israeli radio said on Friday that the chairman of the bloc of Shas movement in the Israeli Knesset Yaer Bertes on Friday called on the Israeli general security department al-Shabak to lift the security umbrella given to Arab member at the Israeli Knesset Azmi Beshara who has the chance to hold repeated visits to Damascus.

For his part, Beshara refuted this Israeli claim and said in a statement issued in the Israeli daily Maareve on Friday said that the investigation Shabak against him reveal that he is chased and harrased for political reasons.

Beshara added that the Israeli authorities permits every one wishing so to travel to Syria, adding that Jews Knesset members asked him to arrange a visit for them to Syria, a matter which reveals that Israel has an interest in a visit as such.
