Syrian prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro on Thursday evening received the Iraqi trade minister Muhammad Mahdi Saleh. Talks dealt with means of strengthening cooperation relations in the economic and trade fields, encouraging joint investments between the public and the private sector for the interests of the two sisterly countries and peoples. Morocco ratified last January the convention on child labor adopted in June 1999 by the 87th session of the International Labor Conference. The convention will come into force in Morocco in January 2002, a statement by the Moroccan ministry of employment said, adding that the ratification of this instrument evidences Morocco's commitment to promote children's rights and to ban and eradicate all forms of child labor. The Iraqi trade minister Muhammad Mahdi Saleh has stated that the volume of Arab trade with his country registered in the year 2000 $ 6 billion, representing 47% of the total Iraqi foreign trade. He added that his country will sign an agreement with Jordan to establish a free trade zone similar to that signed with each of Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Go
