Saudi- Jordanian efforts to sign the free trade agreement
Jordan-Saudi Arabia, Economics, 2/16/2001
Saudi Arabia and Jordan are working to sign two agreements. The first provides for the establishment of a free trade zone and the second to protect the investment and encourage it between the two states.
The Jordanian minister of Industry Wasef Azar, currently visiting Jordan, accompanied by a large Jordanian agricultural, industrial and trade delegation said that Jordan hopes to receive within the two coming weeks a draft agreement on protection of investment from Saudi Arabia and to be approved within the few coming months.
The Jordanian minister noted that he had handed the draft free trade agreement to the Saudi officials and hoped to sign the two agreements or at least one of them during the meeting of the joint Saudi- Jordanian committee after the next Arab summit and that the new agreement will replace all previously trade agreements signed between the two countries.
