Al-Assad confers with King Fahd in al-Riyadh

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and members of the accompanying delegation arrived back in Damascus on Tuesday concluding a visit to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting held on Tuesday at al-Yamama palace between President Bashar al-Assad and the Saudi King dealt with general conditions in the Arab and international arenas, recent developments in the region, bilateral relations and means of bolstering them in all domains.

The meeting was attended by the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara on the Syrian side while the Saudi side was attended by the Saudi crown prince Abdullah, the foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal and high ranking officials concerned.

Later, another meeting was held between President Bashar and crown prince Emir Abdullah.

Bilateral ties, ways of boosting them to serve common interests, the situation in the Middle East, namely the cause of Palestine and the occupied Arab territories as well as the current conditions in the Arab and world arenas were discussed during the meeting.

Then, President Bashar al-Assad and prince Abdullah held a closed door meeting and discussed the current situation in the Arab and regional arenas and matters of common interest.

Foreign minister al-Shara' and his Saudi counterpart prince al-Faisal also held a meeting and discussed matters of common interest.

Earlier at Manama airport before heading for Saudi Arabia the President visited in Bahrain the nature reserves in al-Ein province and inspected efforts exerted to protect environment.

The President and Bahrain's crown prince Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad al- Khaleifa on Tuesday discussed ways of consolidating bilateral relations. A number of Arab and international issues of common interests were also discussed.

Earlier in the day, President al-Assad met with a delegation representing the Syrian community in Bahrain. The President expressed satisfaction over the community's situation and urged them continue to be sincere towards their work in Bahrain.

Members of the delegation highly appreciated President Bashar's policy and stressed allegiance to his leadership.
