Al-Assad arrives in Bahrain

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad arrived in al-Manama today in a visit to Bahrain. At the airport he was welcomed by the ruler of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Issa al-Khaleifa, the crown prince and commander of the Bahraini general force Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad al-Khaleifa and Sheikh Muhammad Bin Salman al-Khaleifa.

President al-Assad was also welcomed by members of the ruling family in Bahrain, the Cabinet ministers, the chairman of the Shoura council and officials concerned.

Then, President Bashar and Sheikh Hamad Bin Issa headed for Sheikh Hamad Palace in al-Qudeibeyah, the residence for the President.

The President is accompanied by the foreign minister Farouk al-Shara.

President al-Assad and Sheikh Hamad held a meeting at the headquarters of the President's residence, attended in the Syrian side by al-Shara and the Syrian ambassador in Bahrain Majid Abu Saleh.

On the Bahraini side the meeting was attended by the Bahraini crown prince, the commander of the defense force, the foreign minister, the minister of housing and development, other Bahraini officials concerned and the Bahraini ambassador in Damascus.

Talks, during the meeting, dealt with "brotherly relations between the two countries and means of developing them."
