Armed forces, capable of repulsing anti-Egypt aggression

Egypt's Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, said that the Egyptian army is capable of repulsing any foreign attack against Egypt.

In an address on the occasion of the Third Field Army Supremacy Day, Tantawi said "We now live at an important stage to realize the aspired-for peace after we have proven to all that our armed forces are a power not to be sneezed at".

"However, this should not make us forget the necessity of good preparation for war," said Tantawi.

He praised the Third Field Army, noting that it is one of the great symbols of the glorious October victory and the liberation of the lands of Sinai. The celebrations included silent parades, formations, physical fitness and engagement.

During the celebrations, a reconnaissance helicopter destroyed a mock enemy electronic warfare center. A parade of new aircraft and vehicles including the multi-purpose F-16, Apache helicopters, Ml-A1 tanks, 155 mm howitzers and reconnaissance vehicles, among other weaponry was also made.

Tantawi distributed distinction medals to a number of commanders, officers and NCOs of the Third Field Army.
