On the US- Jordanian free trade agreement
Jordan-USA, Politics, 2/10/2001
A group of executive directors of certain major American companies which represents 180 companies including " Boeing " and " Motorola " on Friday opposed the free trade agreement proposed to be implemented between the US and Jordan, the Wall Street Journal reported..
The Wall Street Journal explained that the group's refusal to agree the agreement is because of an article which calls on the companies to the need to abide by work criterion valid in Jordan, otherwise they will be punished. But these companies agree to discuss the question of workers but under the condition that these issues will be necessarily part of the free trade agreement.
Worthy mentioning that the said agreement was negotiated upon under the former US President Bill Clinton in the year 2000.
