International Arab communication conference opens in Beirut

Lebanese minister of communications Jean Luis Gerdahi opened on Thursday the third international Arab conference for communications and data technology. The inaugural session was attended by nearly 500 people, including Syrian minister of communications Mohammad Radhwan Martini and planning minister Esam Al-Zaeem as well as the Algerian communications minister Mohammad Maghlawi and representatives of communications ministers from Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia and the United Arab Emirates.
The Lebanese official announced his country was about to liberalize the telecommunication sector and introduce competition into the market.
