This committee was formed at the decision of the Arab summit in order to follow up the implementation of its resolution and then to submit a report to the next Arab summit due to be held in Amman in March.

In a statement he made on Thursday Mousa underlined the importance of peace efforts and the need of Israel's abidance by the implementation of international legitimacy resolution.
However, Egypt has called on the Israeli prime minister elect Ariel Sharon to adopt a policy contributes to giving a push forward into the Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian tracks and to build on what had been reached of agreements and obligations on the ground of UN Security Council resolutions 242 and 338 and the land for peace formula.
A statement released by the Egyptian presidency on Thursday stressed the Arab commitment to peace as a strategic option that requires, in return, a commitment from the Israeli side so as to reach a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region.
The statement explained that Israel's complete withdrawal from all occupied Ara lands in Jerusalem, the Golan until June 4m 1967 border lines and honoring the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establishing their own independent state is the only way to eliminate the state of frustration prevailing the region and the expected dangers if the Israeli government will ignore the basics of the peace process on all tracks.
