Sudanese government and al-Turabi

The official spokesman for the Sudanese police Lt. Gen. Abdul Baqi Mustafa Ahmad has denied the Sudanese authorities to have had arrested several leading figures of the people's congress party led by Hassan al-Turabi.
In a statement to the Sudanese daily Akhbar al-Youm on Wednesday, the spokesman added that what was stated by the people's congress on arresting several members of its leadership at al-Khartoum province is groundless as there are not any political detention in Sudan.
