Egypt, capable of confronting Israel's threats
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 2/5/2001
Egypt's Presidential political adviser Osama E1 Baz, said that Egypt is capable of confronting threats of Israel to use nuclear weapon because Egypt has laid down military plans to confront any military threat by Israel. E1 Baz pointed out that Egypt has adopted a serious stance concerning recent threats made during the current Israeli elections.
E1 Baz added that any Israeli military action against Egypt would bring about heavy losses to Israel on the international level. On Israeli elections El-Baz said that Israeli people would decide on the elections, pointing out that Egypt does not interfere in Israel's elections.
On peace in Mideast, E1 Baz stressed that if Israel wants to continue with peace, it should refrain from making threats and should move on Lebanese-Syrian tracks so that it could achieve peace with all parties. Baz stressed that Palestinians have the right to sovereignty over Islamic and Christian sanctities.
El-Baz pointed out that "we do not deny that a tangible progress has been achieved through negotiations, however, it does not come up to the aspirations of Palestinians and Arabs since alternative proposals have been raised through negotiations on Jerusalem-based sanctities.
On Islamic-Christian sanctities, El-Baz said that Egyptian Muslims and Copts have a unified stand of refraining from visiting their sanctities unless the Palestinian Authority has restored sovereignty over them.
E1 Baz- statements came at a meeting in Suez titled Youth_vision horizons" attended by Maj. Gen. Seif Jalal, governor of Suez.
On youth, El-Baz said that President Hosni Mubarak has given attention to promote youth capacity by enhancing technology drive, deepening Egyptian youth knowledge and supplying intellectual cadres.
In this connection E1 Baz said that plans have been laid down to supply information for the people within affordable prices.
On boycotting American commodities, E1 Baz said we should drop such calls since the capital of the commodities is Arab and their manpower are Egyptians and Arabs. But this does not mean that we drop supporting Islamic, national and Arab issues.
