Sudan-Kuwait, Economics, 2/5/2001
The Sudanese government is studying plans to hold a free trade zone with Kuwait, Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA) reports.
Sudanese Al-Rai Al-Aam newspaper quoted the head of the foreign relations department at Sudan's ministry of foreign affairs Mustafa Ahmad Mustafa as saying that Kuwait presented a plan to establish a free trade zone between the two countries and an agreement that would exempt all goods traded between the two countries from taxes. He said that the government is going to discuss the plan in a manner that would not harm the local Sudanese industry.
Kuwait is taking part for the first time in the Khartoum international exhibition held from Feb.2 through 11. The Kuwaiti pavilion in the exhibition included 20 companies.
